10 June 2019David Bruce Mem 50tt

CFCC hosted the David Bruce Memorial 50tt on Sunday 9th June. Conditions looked good in the morning as the riders took to the course which ran between the Dornoch bridge and the Cromarty bridge.

The fastest rider on the day was Kyle Gordon RT23 who finished in a time of 1:43:39, Wilson Renwick of  Java Partizan Pro Cycling Team was 2nd in 1:47:00 and James Millar of Moray Firth CC was 3rd in 1:50:48.

Catriona MacGillivary  of RT23 produced the ride of the day to finish in a time of 1:57:27 which breaks the Scottish women’s record.

Carlos Riise of Shetland Wheelers took the Vet. Standard prize with a +22.22. Kyle Cartmell of RT23 won the youth prize in a time of 1:59:25 and Vince Maclennan of Ross-shire Roads won the Handicap with a nett time of 1:22:25.

A big thanks Katrina Moir (Commissaire) , Bob Brady (Timekeeper) ,all the CFCC guys who came out to marshall and to Aileen Stuart for doing the teas for everyone at the end.

A damp cold night with a headwind on the way out this week for the CFCC club 10tt. Only 2 riders braved the conditions:

David Stuart 23.21 mins
Ben Thompson 27.29 mins

05 June 2019Scottish Cycling National 25tt

Fraser Caldwell was the only CFCC rider to take part in the Scottish Cycling 25tt Championship at Forfar on Sunday. Conditions were good despite a bit of rain and Fraser managed to do a new pb time of 57.38 mins to finish 38th overall.

The wind seemed to be from the west this week for the club 10tt, but you had headwinds, tailwinds and cross winds depending on where you were on the course in either direction. Riders times were:

David Stuart 23.06 mins
Gary Cunningham 24.33 mins (std bike)
Darren Shearer 24.43 mins
Ross Macdonald 28.12 mins

16 May 2019Raymond Sinclair Memorial 10tt

CFCC held the Raymond Sinclair Memorial on Wed 15th May. With the wind still coming from the East it made it tough going for the riders on the way out to the turn at Cullrosie roundabout. This changed to a tailwind for the way back making the return leg quick.

Kyle Gordon of RT23 was the fastest rider on the night finishing in a time of 19.44 mins, Second place went to Alasdair Munro of RT23 in 20.53 mins with Ewan Macgillvary also of RT23 in third in a time of 21.08 mins.

The Raymond Sinclair Memorial trophy for fastest rider on handicap went to Keith Hinds of Ross-Shire Roads CC with a handicap time of 19.25 mins.

 

Other winners on the night were.

1st Lady – Mary Eagleson RRCC 29.09 mins

1st Junior- Kyle Cartmell RT23 21.49 mins

1St youth – Lewis Dey Forres CC 27.28 mins

1st Vet Std – Peter Ettles RT23 +5.16

It was a cold night with the wind coming from the east again this week meaning a headwind out to the turn at the CFCC club 10tt. Riders times were :

David Stuart 23.48 mins
Ben Thompson 26.41 mins 
Ross Macdonald 29.21 mins.

07 May 2019Scottish Cycling National 10tt

Fraser Caldwell was the only CFCC rider at the Scottish Cycling 10 mile tt Championship on Sunday at Monifeith . Fraser completed the course in a time of 23.48 mins.

Once again Kyle Gordon from Ardross was the fastest man in the field to win the Scottish Championship in a time of 20.09 mins.

The wind changed direction this week to a south westerly which meant a tailwind out to the turn for the five CFCC riders that were out this week. The good conditions meant all the riders improved on their previous times for this year. Riders times were :

Ben Thompson 25.08 mins

Well done to Scott Macdonald and Coinneach Laing on their rides at the Etape Loch Ness on Sunday. Scott finished on 3hrs 7mins and Coinneach in 3hrs 10 mins.

David Stuart was in action today in Forres, first up was the Bill & Christie Stuart memorial 10 tt in the morning David finished on 15th overall in a time of 24.44 mins. Then in the afternoon it was the 17 mile Edinvale hilly tt which he finished in 13th overall and taking 50 seconds off his previous pb on that course in 40.08 mins.

23 April 2019St. Andrews Uni. tri.

Fraser Caldwell was competing again at the weekend at the St. Andrews Uni. Tri. despite feeling that he had heavy legs Fraser managed to finish his Swim , Bike and Run in 6th place overall.

Fraser Caldwell has been giving the CFCC colours an outing down in Fife this week, first up on Sunday at the East Fife Sprint Aqua bike (750m swim / 24km bike) Fraser finished 2nd overall and on Wedensday night he completed a 5 mile tt in 11.44 mins for 11th place overall.

An east wind again this week for the club 10tt. A bit stronger this week which mean it was a tough outward leg to the roundabout.

Riders times were:

David Stuart 24.28 mins

Gary Cunningham 26.01 mins (std bike)

Coinneach Laing 28.08 mins (1st time)

Ben Thompson DNF (punctured)

Next week club 10tt will still be a 6.:30pm start non members are allowed to ride a couple of club 10tt's before joining.

CFCC held our first club 10tt of the 2019 season on Tuesday evening. An east wind made it tough going out to the turn at Cullrossie roundabout but meant a tailwind on the return leg.

Ben Thompson 28.05 mins (1st time)
