Caithness Weekend

Headwinds are going to be what the riders remember about the Caithness CC weekend this year. On Saturday four CFCC riders travelled to Thurso to take part in the Mack Mowatt mem.25tt, the windy conditions made for quick going on the way out to the turn just passed Watten but once turned and on the way back to the finish it was a hard push into the headwind all the way back. Nigel Levett was the fastest CFCC rider on the day recording a time of 1:02:30 to finish 11th overall , David Stuart was next in 14th overall with a time of 1:03:25. Then Dariusz Badlya in 1:09:00 in 18th position one place ahead of Alan Cook in 19th in a time of 1:11:33.

On Sunday morning they were down to 3 CFCC riders for the Caithness 10tt. Conditions were just as Saturday with a tailwind out and strong headwind on the return. David Stuart was the fastest CFCC rider on the day finishing in a time of 24.33mins in 4th place overall, Dariusz Badlya was next in 7th overall in a time of 26.30mins and Alan Cook finished in 27.45mins for 13th overall.

On Sunday afternoon it was onto the Loch Calder 11 mile hilly. This being a loop circuit meant that riders had the wind coming from different angles depending on where you were on the course and the last couple of miles were right into the headwind again. David was again the fastest CFCC rider completing the course in 29.11mins in 4th place overall and winning the 2nd prize for Vet Std, Dariusz was next in 6th place overall in 31.27mins with Alan Cook in 10th overall in 33.53mins.

In the weekend overall prizes Alan Cook took the 2nd placed Vet on Standard and David Stuart took 3rd place overall for the three events.
